Do you know there is a medical condition called anhedonia – "a reaction remarkably similar to mountain sickness resulting from the sudden terror brought on by the threat of happiness. It was a common disease amongst tourists in the south of Spain."
A fear of happiness. I think we've all felt it… being so incredibly happy. Over the moon. Absolutely filled with bliss… and then, that pinch of fear that spreads and ripples through – what if this happiness leaves me. What if I lose it all. Or that niggling doubt – I don’t deserve to be this happy. I'm not worthy. Like pin-pricking a balloon. The joy plummets. Fear swallows it whole.
But what if … you deserved that much love. What if you were truly worthy of it.
The universe doesn't make mistakes. If that much love shows up in your life – its yours. All yours. And its wrong for any of us to turn it away.
My lesson this week. My lesson today. My lesson every day really. Is about love. How much I love love. How sweet it is. How much there is out there. How just a little drop can fill a huge hole.
And how easy it can be. If you let it.
